Our Mission
On September 11, 2005, five firefighters from Colorado gathered together in Denver to climb 110 stories as a tribute to their brothers lost in NYC during the terrorist attacks. The event has since grown to 343, the number of firefighters lost on 9/11. The Climb is partnered with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, and proceeds from the events benefit the families of all fallen firefighters.
The Manassas 9/11 Stair Climb will take place on September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the attacks. It will consist of 114 firefighters, approximately one third of the number of firefighters lost on 9/11. Each will carry three of the fallen with them during their climb. Sudley Tower, where our Climb is being held, is only 9 stories tall, so each firefighter will climb 12 times, and the remaining 2 stories will be walked.
